The Artimelt Academy.
Artists and arts organisations in Yorkshire who want to explore new ideas using digital platforms can benefit from The Artimelt Academy, which launched last month.
The Artimelt Academy is a project of The Culture Company, supported through Grants for the arts. It follows on from its successful innovation funding programme Melt. A three month programme, Artimelt will include mentored group research trips to a range of inspirational events, opportunities for peer group support and idea development plus bespoke advice sessions. Acceptance into the academy includes a £1,500 development award to buy in expert consultancy to develop your ideas.
The long term aim is to help Yorkshire's arts sector to develop applications to digital and social media funds such as Channel 4's 4iP programme and The Wellcome Trust's Arts Award scheme. The project will also contribute to increasing the digital capacity of the arts sector, a priority for the Arts Council.
There are 16 places available on The Artimelt Academy per term. The two terms run from February - April 2010 and May - July 2010. The deadline for applications for the first term was 1 February 2010. The application window for the 2nd term will be announced soon.
