Afrovibes festival returns to the Midlands as part of its national tour

  • Date: 2 October 2012
  • Area: Midlands

The eighth Afrovibes festival will be taking place from the 1 – 20 October. Featuring a programme of theatre, dance, music and spoken word from South Africa and beyond. Produced by UK Arts International and with funding from Arts Council England travels to London, Birmingham, Wales, Manchester, Liverpool, Hereford, Lancaster and Nottingham.

Jan Ryan, Director of UK Arts International says "Afrovibes connects artists in the UK with artists in South Africa. It enables people to not only experience the work of a range of South African performers, but to contextualise that work through events that take place in the Township Cafe. Afrovibes invites discussion around both artistic and social issues affecting contemporary South Africa, allowing audiences and participants to dig deeper into the life and mindset of this extraordinary country"
