About the workshop
Arts organisations and artists are increasingly ambitious about the digital experiences and services they offer audiences and users. They want to bring creativity to bear on this new set of challenges and may need to bring other talents into the mix to realise their ambitions.
Commissioning a digital production partner can offer a solution to creating innovative and exciting digital work, but working out what's both inspiring and possible isn't always easy. Successful commissioning shares common factors: clarity of brief, a good definition of the creative challenge, finding the right partner and open honest communication. This workshop will consider those factors from the perspective of both commissioner and commissioned and offers a series of practical tools and approaches to support the brief development process.
The workshop aims to:
- map out key components of a brief
- examine some processes and tools for the preparation of a brief
- investigate the use of co-creation methods
- help you frame your brief as a creative challenge
- develop your approach to defining an experience you want to create for a user
- help you describe the digital values and strategy that this new commission will fit in to
- introduce method which allows ideas beyond those already identified to emerge through the process
Who is the event suitable for?
The workshop is designed for arts organisations and artists who want to work with a production partner, for example an app designer, web developer or video producer, but who have limited experience of commissioning in this area, or want to develop their approach.
We anticipate that this will be a very popular workshop, and wish to offer the places to those who have a clear idea they'd like to commission, and may have already begun the process of creating a brief.
