John Middleton

John is Head of Economic Development at the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation (LTGDC), where he is responsible for education and skills, and culture and community work. LTGDC is the Government's lead regeneration body for the Lower Lea Valley and London Riverside, the two areas with the greatest potential for growth in the Thames Gateway. He first worked for LTGDC as a consultant in 2005, but from 2007 has been a full-time employee. His is currently delivering projects which include a new university centre, a community centre adjacent to the 2012 Olympic Site and a new marketing suite for east London.

John is the Chair of Barking's Broadway Theatre, where he is working to connect the theatre more fully with the neighbouring Creative Industries Quarter being built on the waterside. He is also Vice Chair of Stratford Circus and a Director of Stratford Renaissance Partnership, where he is connecting culture into the plans for the physical and economic rejuvenation of this new piece of London. John is a Governor of NewVIc in Newham, one of London's leading sixth form colleges and the body which manages Stratford Circus, and a trustee of the Bow Arts Trust in Bow, Tower Hamlets.
