Who can submit an expression of interest
To be eligible to submit an expression of interest, you must:
1 be applying for a grant between £50,000 and £500,000 a year
2 demonstrate that your outcomes will contribute to the aims of the Renaissance strategic support fund set out in section one of this guidance
3 be applying for funding for activity that will start in 2013/14
4 be an Accredited museum based in England with over 15,000 visitors per year who is not in receipt of major partner museum funding or a national museum or
5 be an organisation with a track record in delivering services to the museum sector, able to demonstrate that the outcomes from the activity will benefit the Accredited regional museum sector in England
6 Applicants must be properly constituted organisations and must be able to make available copies of governance documentation, if required
If you are invited to make a full application, you will be asked to confirm that your full application is supported by the governing body of your organisation
7 request a grant of no more than 25 per cent of your annual turnover in any one year
8 partnerships which must include an Accredited museum or organisations that have a track record in delivering services to the museum sector
Partnerships might include a range of organisations but a core principle will be that the funds will directly benefit the ability of the Accredited regional museum sector in England to improve services to audiences and communities.
In the Expressions of Interest form, you must identify the lead organisation and your partners. If you are invited to make a full application, we will expect the lead organisation to have responsibility for managing the application and being responsible for any grant that is awarded. If you are successful, you may be asked to provide us with a copy of a written agreement with your partners.
The following criteria also apply to partnerships:
- the aggregated total of the partnership's visitor figures must be over 15,000 visitors per year
- the total grant requested must be no more than 25 per cent of the total turnover of the organisations in the partnership in any one year
9 organisations must be submitting only one expression of interest for this round, either as an individual organisation or as a partnership
Who cannot submit an expression of interest
You cannot express an interest if:
1 you are not an Accredited museum or you are an organisation that does not have a track record in delivering services to the museum sector
2 you are an Accredited museums with less than 15,000 visitors per year, unless you are working in partnership and can demonstrate that the aggregated total of the partnership's visitor figures are over 15,000 visitors per year
3 you are an individual - we will not accept applications from people applying in a purely personal capacity
4 not applying for a grant between £50,000 and £500,000
5 you are applying for a grant of more than 25 per cent of your annual turnover, either as an individual organisation or as a partnership
6 your activity will not start in 2013/2014
7 you are a national museum, a major partner museum or a museum already in receipt of strategic funding for 2013-15
