There were four steps to applying for funding for national portfolio organisations.

1.    Read the guidance carefully and contact us

The guidance document gave information on how to apply for funding, and answered some common questions. We also strongly recommended that organisations contacted either their relationship manager or our Enquiries team before making an application.

2.    Fill in the online application form

Applicants used  the online application to tell us about their organisations and how they planned to contribute to our goals and priorities.

The form also asked for information that we may use to report to government or to monitor the different backgrounds of people who receive funding. We did not use this information to assess applications.

Applicants had to apply online from our website using our online application system. Printed applications were not accepted. If applicants had difficulty applying online, they needed to contact our Enquiries team.

3.    Include any relevant extra information

Organisations which do not currently receive regular funding from us were asked to give us some additional information. We did not consider any additional information they sent after they had submitted applications, unless we specifically asked for it.

4.    Submit the application online

Applications had to be submitted no later than 10am on Monday 24 January 2011. Applications submitted after this time were not considered.
