The Music industry talent development fund is a pilot intended to test a small grants scheme for early to mid-career musicians broadly operating in the contemporary popular music sector of the music industry.
Aims and outcomes
Support for the development of artistic talent is a key priority for the Arts Council and sits under Goal 1 of our 10 year strategic frame work, Achieving great art for everyone: to establish a coherent, nationwide approach to the development of artistic talent, particularly for emerging and mid-career artists.
Through this initiative, the Arts Council expects the following outcomes:
- a fully tested and working model for supporting distinctive artistic talent in the music industry
- through independent evaluation of qualitative and quantitative outcomes, an assessment of the effectiveness of the scheme and an assessment of the impact on funded acts
- an improved understanding of artist development needs in the music industry
- increased awareness of the Arts Council's interest in and support for the music industry
How much funding is available
Funding for the Music industry talent development fund is confirmed at £500,000 for the period April 2013 - March 2015.
Specific details of how artists and arts organisations can get involved in the programme will be announced by PRS for Music Foundation in the coming months.
