Artsreach provides a wide ranging programme of professional arts events for local people at affordable prices, working in collaboration with a network of voluntary local promoters based in the community.
These activities include:
- a touring programme of professional performances (including drama, music, dance, literature and film), co-promoted with rural communities in local venues
- a visual arts programme, commissioning innovative work and touring high-quality contemporary exhibitions to rural venues
- creative children’s activities during the summer holidays and shows and participatory workshops for children and all the family throughout the year
- professional and innovative project work, which responds to the needs and interests of rural communities – this includes a programme of artists in residence
- the provision of an arts information, advice and advocacy service for rural Dorset
Artsreach is a member of a national network of rural touring schemes, the National Rural Touring Forum www.nrtf.org.uk In 2008/09, Arts Council England funding to Artsreach was £56,381, in 2009/10 £57,903 and they will receive in 2010/11£59,467.
