With the help of a successful Grants for the arts award from Arts Council England, Artmusic presented phase 2 of Palace Intrusions between May and September 2008.
Palace Intrusions is a public arts project curated by Helen Ottaway and Melanie Thompson and produced by Artmusic. It is a series of site specific artists’ residencies, interventions, installations and performances in and around Wells in Somerset. All events are free and took place on the Palace Green and the moat.
The theme of the project is ‘inside and outside’ – where we choose to sit, what we choose to see and what goes on around us. Palace Intrusions is accompanied by an ongoing exhibition at Wells Museum. The exhibition documents each benchmark throughout the year.
The next Benchmarks project, Benchmark 9 which followed Palace Intrusions, involved Portuguese performance artist Hernani COR and French food artist Ingrid AR presented 2 new works in Wells, Somerset: 'Could you eat the English Flag?' and 'Black/White'.
