London 2012 - getting involved

  • Date: 3 April 2008
  • Artform: All
  • Area: London, National

London 2012 invites the UK’s arts organisations to be part of the Cultural Olympiad.

The Cultural Olympiad is launching on the weekend of 26-28 September 2008, and will run right through to the end of the 2012 Games. This UK wide festival will incorporate a range of inspiring projects, placing culture and creativity at the heart of the Games.

London 2012 are looking for inspirational ideas from all sorts of people – surprising, exciting, brand new projects, events or activities inspired by 2012, that will form part of the Cultural Olympiad.

Projects selected by London 2012 will be granted the right to use the new ‘Inspire mark’ on their marketing materials. The mark recognises that a project has been ‘inspired by London 2012’ and reflects the values of the Olympic and Paralympic Movements.

There are some criteria which your proposed project or event has to meet in order to be eligible for selection. Please see the London 2012 website for further details on these.

Please note, the London 2012 Organising Committee is not a funding body. You should have secured all or most of the funding you need for your project before you put in an application to them. If your Grants for the arts application is successful it does not give your project automatic inclusion in the Cultural Olympiad, but you may wish to apply to London 2012 to be considered.

If, having read all this, you would like to put an idea forward, you need to speak to your local Creative Programmer. There is one for every region of England and devolved nation of the UK.

Find out about the Creative Programmers and how to contact them.
