Writing East Midlands Ltd

Writing East Midlands is the writer development agency for the region. It works to create opportunities for established writers, to nurture talented new and emerging writers, and to make the East Midlands known for the quality of its writing and the diversity of its writers.

Writing East Midlands believes that literature empowers people - writers, readers and communities - in terms of personal development, social integration and civic renewal. As a result Writing East Midlands fosters both access and excellence in its programmes by connecting writers of different backgrounds to new audiences and communities.

Writing East Midlands' Writing Residency at Kennedy House

As part of a Writing East Midlands' Write Here Residency project, published writer Mahsuda Snaith was placed as Writer in Residence at Kennedy House, a homeless hostel in Leicester, where, with support from Tom Harris (Shadow Writer), she ran writing workshops with the residents. The film tells the story of one resident Lenny who uses writing as a form of expression and shows the impact that creative writing projects, such as this, can have on people's lives.
