Tyneside Cinema

Tyneside Cinema is both a working cinema and a living piece of the UK’s national film heritage. It remains the only surviving Grade II-listed newsreel theatre to be fully operational in this country and recently was restored to the art-deco splendour of its original 1937 design.

Tyneside boasts a comprehensive cinema offering, from Hollywood Blockbusters, independent and foreign arthouse cinema and a new immersive 3D cinema offering has been added to the Tyneside repertoire. The centre also houses a purpose built presenting digital and live action art and media exhibitions, three bars accommodating stand-up comedy and regular spoken word events; Tyneside is also a partner in the National Theatre Live programme and screens live opera and ballet.
