Bloodlight

Director: Jane Rogoyska Writer: Barry Hale When two serial killers meet, there can only be one victim. "I wrote this for Yorkshire TV back in '94. I was interested in the inner worlds people create for themselves - whether they be artists, believers in a spiritual world or serial killers - there's a sense in each of being beyond society's laws, being able to step outside of the social norm through some divine or inner authority to stray far from the beaten paths of society. All three share an unshakeable faith and a sense of ownership over one's own life and the lives of others. That conviction in people fascinates me still." - Barry Hale www.thresholdstudios.tv @TS_Studios facebook.com/thresholstudios.tv

Washing Strangers

Director: Barry Hale Producer: Uzma Johal Writer: Stephen Loveless Bigotry and prejudice are forced to the surface when two men are thrown together by circumstance. Can an act of violence be a catalyst for change? I was drawn to Steve's script because it is about contemporary Britain, about prejudice, and the hope that the shared values we have in common can build bridges between communities. Uzma's background was in documentary - she came on board as Producer when she saw the script enabled her to talk about issues that were important to her in a narrative format for the first time. Two years after the first script development meeting we were commissioned to make the film by Central TV in '98. We'd just launched the organisation now known as Threshold Studios, so Washing Strangers was a great inaugural project for the company, employing fifty people, mostly Northampton based film-makers, and giving them the opportunity to work with the legendary Mike Le Fevre BBC Head of Studio Lighting and DOP Martin Westall. www.thresholdstudios.tv @TS_Studios facebook.com/thresholstudios.tv

Silent song

By Threshold Studios Written, directed and starring young people, Silent Song was created through our Dark Reels initiative funded by the UK Film Council to support the development of the next generation of film makers. Screened on BBC 2, a BBC Producer described it as a mix between Hollyoaks and Roman Polanski's Repulsion - praise indeed! www.thresholdstudios.tv @TS_Studios facebook.com/thresholstudios.tv
