Founded in 1972 by Trevor Pinnock, The English Concert was one of the leading exponents of authentic baroque and early classical music performance, using period instruments to recreate early modern compositions as heard by contemporaries.
Since then the English Concert has become Europe’s leading touring baroque orchestra and was augmented by the Choir of the English Concert in 1983, adding a quality choral dimension to their exceptional instrumental productions. The company boast a back catalogue of over 100 recordings and regularly work with distinguished guest directors from around the world.
