    The Circus Space

    The Circus Space is one of the top circus schools in Europe, offering the UK's only degree-level education in circus arts. The building houses a creation space, and the organisation offers professional development opportunities for aspiring and established performers. The Circus Space also delivers participatory and leisure activities including the London Youth Circus, and a varied performance programme including regular cabaret nights. Our funding supports core costs, as well as the youth circus and the professional development programme for emerging professional artists.

    Shoreditch Electric Light Station and Hoxton in 1990

    This video was made in 1990, when a group of circus artists found the semi-derelict Shoreditch Electric Light Station in scruffy, rubble strewn Hoxton. Extensive restoration and reconstruction converted the building into what is now one of Europe's leading circus training facilities. Circus Space runs the only Circus Arts BA Hons Degree in the UK alongside extensive recreational and progressive programmes whilst Hoxton has become an upmarket area full of boutiques, cafes and art galleries.     The hula hooping Bon Bons at Piccadilly Circus Circus

    On Sunday 2 August Piccadilly Circus and Regent Street in central London were transformed into a surprise circus. 247 performers from 33 international companies performed across a variety of stages. We were there, with graduates in several of the companies and performances from our very own hula hooping Bon Bons and a selection of this year's graduates.

    Acrobatic ensemble workshop

    London Youth Circus and Circus Space Degree alumnus Nathan Price ran a four day long acrobatic ensemble workshop for a group of acrobats and dancers. On the final day they performed the short piece that they had been working on.
