The Circus Space

The Circus Space is one of the top circus schools in Europe, offering the UK's only degree-level education in circus arts. The building houses a creation space, and the organisation offers professional development opportunities for aspiring and established performers. The Circus Space also delivers participatory and leisure activities including the London Youth Circus, and a varied performance programme including regular cabaret nights. Our funding supports core costs, as well as the youth circus and the professional development programme for emerging professional artists.

Inside the National Centre for Circus Arts

This year we were awarded national status and became the 'National Centre for Circus Arts'. To celebrate we made this video of our beautiful building and the amazing people that train here. Spread the word with #NationalCircus Find out more at http://nationalcircus.org.uk/ About us 2014 marks our 25th year - during that time we have trained over 50,000 people in circus arts. Our Further and Higher Education programmes range from a BTEC qualification (in conjunction with Hackney Community College) to a Postgraduate Certificate and a BA (Hons) Degree in Circus Arts. We are an affiliate of the Conservatoire for Dance and Drama alongside 7 other prestigious institutions that are leaders in performing arts training. Our graduates work around the world with companies like Cirque du Soleil and Les 7 Doigts de la Main. At home we have worked with some of the UK's most reputable companies including the RSC, Roundhouse, ENO, the V&A and the National Theatre. The programmes of small to mid-scale venues such as Stratford Circus and Jackson's Lane feature circus arts regularly. Many of the performers in these productions are our graduates and professional members. We have played a significant role in major public events from the millennium celebrations at the Dome to the Olympic and Paralympic ceremonies in 2012. We support the development of youth circus nationally, with companies from around the country taking part in the National Youth Circus Event each year. As the National Centre for Circus Arts we are also taking a leading role in supporting the wider circus sector in the UK, creating opportunities for circus to be seen and for people to participate in training at all levels. http://nationalcircus.org.uk/ Filming and editing by the Roundhouse Music - Janelle Monae 'Tightrope'
