Ghulam Hussain is a truck driver from Northern Pakistan, regularly travelling hundreds of miles to transport people and goods across the country. After contracting AIDS, he reminisces and questions his father's teachings about life on the road. Instead of encountering adventure, as promised by his father's truck paintings, Hussain constantly battles with feelings of loneliness, fear and desire that are brought on by spending weeks away from home. Like many other truck drivers, he has developed a drug habit and regularly has sex with prostitutes, hence his present condition. Hussain contemplates suicide but in the end decides that he cannot give up hope. Animation.

Eye Contact depicts the thoughts that go on inside taxi and bus drivers' heads as they drive. Specifically, why sometimes a driver may seem distanced, not as friendly as you may expect.

Robin Langridge is a musician who was once signed to iconic record labels such as Polydor and Atlantic. Sadly, though relatively successful, Robin's music career never brought him enough money to support his growing family, leading him to become a taxi driver: a job that has lasted him over 20 years. This short film examines some of the reasons behind his career choices.

written and performed by Nimmi Harasgama
Meet the irrepressible auntie netta from her first full length show at The Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2011 - part of a cheeky double bill with The Trouble with Asian Men.
auntie netta is the unassumingly funny asylum seeker from Sri Lanka, who tells the bawdy, observational story of her arrival in Britain.
From Hadrian's Wall to 'Venezuelan' bikini waxes and her favourite Portuguese dance to the wonders of Skype, follow Auntie's journey from literature scholar to cleaning lady.
Nimmi Harasgama's one-woman show is a fresh new satire on immigration, politics and Auntie's experience of living in the UK. Auntie Netta's Holiday for Asylum had its first airing at Tamasha's Start Night for emerging artists at Hampstead Theatre in 2009. It then played to roaring success at Battersea Arts Centre's Scratch Festival, before taking part in the Funny Women competition hosted by Shazia Mirza in 2010.

Tamasha's cult verbatim comedy returned to The Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2011 - part of a cheeky double bill with Auntie Netta's Holiday for Asylum.
Macho men or metrosexual guys? Mummy's boys tied to the apron strings or husbands under the thumb? These spirited men have all got roots, so what are they really like behind closed doors?
Created entirely from interviews with members of the public, The Trouble with Asian Men reveals the experiences of British Asian men in their own words.
The show uses a powerful verbatim technique where the original interviews are relayed to and recreated by the actors during the performance to expose the idiosyncrasies of human speech and channel the spirits of the people they represent. The result is a vital, tender and often hilarious insight into lives that surround us everyday.
Since premiering in 2005, The Trouble with Asian Men has played to packed houses across the UK, enjoying two sell-out London runs at artsdepot in 2005 and Soho Theatre in 2006.

The Arrival: Artist Commissions
As part of our forthcoming theatre-circus production The Arrival, Tamasha is commissioning different artists in the years leading up to the show. Each commission will result in a standalone piece inspired by themes of migration which can add layers of material and interpretation to the show in development
2. Sheila Hayman - Finding a Voice
The second commission was awarded to BAFTA and Emmy award-winning filmmaker Sheila Hayman. Since 2004, Sheila has run Write for Life, the creative writing programme of the Medical Foundation, the UK's only charity dedicated to working with torture victims.
Sheila's commission, saw her run workshops with Write for Life participants and other groups which led to a short documentary film. Kristine worked with participants over 2 of the sessions and Sheila's resulting film looks at how Tamasha's intracultural practice can be used outside the rehearsal room to give confidence to writers keen to perform their own work to more accurately reflect the true nature of their experiences.
