Shobana Jeyasingh presents original work using new music, new media and contemporary dance. The company also taps into the deep wellspring of South Asian dance technique Bharata Natyam to expresses a unique British Asian identity. Our funding will contribute towards core costs.

Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company has launched a three-year creative programme to celebrate 25 years of innovation from Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company. Taking 1988 as a creative turning-point for Shobana and her work, we have developed a programme that both references her creative journey, whilst continuing to develop exciting new work. The programme is called A Quarter Century of Innovation.
Commissioned by Somerset House and English National Ballet as part of Big Dance 2010 and produced by the Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company.
Taking her cue from the stunning neo-classical courtyard and the dynamically designed fountains at Somerset House in London, award-winning choreographer Shobana Jeyasingh weaves a compelling and contrasting story for London in the 21st century.
