Sheffield Theatres

Sheffield Theatres is a leading producing theatre complex with a national reputation, generating high quality work for its local audience and for national touring.

Work is presented on three scales in the Crucible, the Lyceum and the Studio theatre. It operates a strong youth theatre and has a well integrated education and outreach programme. November 2009 sees the completion of a major capital development programme to refurbish the Crucible, maximising internal space and establishing a new exterior with a strong impact on the public realm.

Woody Sez celebrates the spirit of American folk legend Woody Guthrie, whose music continues to inspire today's finest storytelling songwriters including Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and Billy Bragg. Part music, part words, Woody Sez weaves together Guthrie's songs with excerpts from articles he wrote for the leftist newspaper The People's World to create a portrait of a true American hero, a man who would 'always be there whenever working folks fight for their rights'. Public Dress Rehearsal

Huge queues formed outside the Crucible Theatre on the morning of Thursday 11th February as fans waited for tickets to the public dress rehearsal of An Enemy of the People. Many people had queued for hours before the Box Office opened and came from across the region to be among the first to see the Crucibles opening production. First in the queue was Dorotta Pelszyc from Sheffield, who had been waiting since 8.00am. As a special gift she was also given two tickets for the opening night of Sisters at the Studio.
