Sadler’s Wells

Sadler’s Wells aims to provide transformative experiences through dance, to engage the widest possible audience and to expand the public’s enjoyment, appreciation and understanding of dance. As one of the world’s premiere dance houses, they produce, commission and present dance in all its forms, from ballet to hip hop. Sadler’s Wells present existing work by leading companies and artists from all over the world and commission and produce original new work from their associate artists and other artists. Their productions tour the UK and abroad, crossing cultural boundaries and attracting diverse audiences of more than 600,000 each year.

Beginning her work as a choreographer in 1968, Pina Bausch is the inventor of tanztheater as it is known today. During 40 years as Artistic Director of Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, she nurtured an ensemble of vivid imagination and grand scale.
