West Side Story

7 Aug - 22 Sep | Sadler's Wells One of the greatest musicals of all time, West Side Story returns to Sadler's Wells this summer after a sell-out season in 2008 during its 50th anniversary year. With groundbreaking choreography by the legendary Jerome Robbins, book by Arthur Laurents, an unforgettable score by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, West Side Story changed the face of musical theatre forever. Based on Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and packed with unforgettable songs including Maria, Tonight, Somewhere, America and I Feel Pretty, West Side Story has been described as "a masterpiece of musical theatre" (Daily Mail) and "a musical landmark" (The Guardian). Wah! Wah! Girls: Sita Oh Sita

Sita Oh Sita, composed by Niraj Chag, is adapted from the stage musical Wah! Wah! Girls, produced by Sadler's Wells, Theatre Royal Stratford East and Kneehigh. Featuring new lyrics by Japjit Kaur the song was re-recorded with additional musicians specially for the video. Filmed at Petticoat Lane marketing in London, the video features almost 100 professional and non-professional dancers.

Akram Khan and Polarbear - Not all collaborations work out well...

Warning: Contains strong language In February 2012 Sadler's Wells held a fund raising Gala called Extraordinary Collaborations. Associate Artist Akram Khan was not able to perform live due to injury, so made this short film with poet Polarbear that was screened on the night instead. Contains strong language.

New English Ballet Theatre - Synergies
