Culture Box was part of the Switch projects summer provision run by the Octagon Theatre in Bolton. Switch aims to offer creative opportunities to bring young people from different backgrounds together to learn, share and connect through the arts. The idea for Culture Box was designed and developed by young people involved in the Switch project. Culture Box ran over five days and engaged with young people from across all areas of the community. Each young person brought an object, story or image to the first session. These were shared with the group and opened up discussion, ideas and responses to what culture meant to them. The items and the discussions they produced then acted as the stimulus to create a performance.
