SummerTyne Americana Festival is one of the most important annual Americana events in Europe, attracting visitors from across the world for a sizzling celebration of Americana music in and around the spectacular setting of The Sage Gateshead, on the south bank of the river Tyne.

A showcase of fantastic music by professional and emerging young musicians, many coming from our own Young Musicians Programme. Including a performance of Fiddles on Tyne, a commission by Kathryn Tickell featuring string players from 4 years of age of all ages and abilities.
The Young Musicians Programme presented an afternoon of wrap around folk activity to warmly welcome the visiting National Youth Orchestra in Hall One, an orchestral music performance inspired by folk.
On Friday 18th May, for the first time The Sage Gateshead held an all-new launch evening to introduce the whole of their next classical season (2012/13) in one go. The new season will include Brahms and Schumann symphony cycles, with Music Director Thomas Zehetmair, visiting orchestras, Classical FM Concert Series, the eclectic Late Mix and much more.
1NG, NewcastleGateshead's city development company, in close collaboration with partners, will submit a bid to the Government's Regional Growth Fund for an International Conference and Exhibition Centre. The project plays a pivotal role in NewcastleGateshead's future economic prosperity and will generate significant private sector jobs and investment both in the immediate future but also sustained over the long-term.
