Founded by Ali Williams and other members of student circus group Balls Up Jugglers in 1986 in Cardiff, No Fit State has since established itself as the UK’s leading contemporary circus company. The company rose from humble beginnings, improvising street performances from scarce resources and no little enthusiasm, to become an internationally-acclaimed professional tented company, producing several large shows annually.
The company is rooted in a distinctly Welsh tradition of community arts, in which the creative voice is an expression of collective identity. Building on this tradition, No Fit State continues to expand community participation in the arts, creating inspirational education and training programmes for community participants, young people and professional artists, creating world class contemporary circus performances.
