Motionhouse was founded 25 years ago in 1988 by Kevin Finnan and Louise Richards. The company has since become one of the leading dance theatre companies in the UK making work locally and touring globally. The company's performances are rooted in dance but draw on theatre, circus, acrobatics and film to create work that makes you think and feel.

Preparing for the opening night of their second U.S tour with Scattered, Motionhouse dancers take you on an exclusive look behind the scenes. UK based Motionhouse returned to the USA in March 2014 for their second theatre tour of Scattered, which opened at the Edison Theatre, St Louis, MO on 21 March before taking in eight states over six weeks.

Scattered returns to the USA!

It's nearly time...! Due to popular demand, Scattered returns to the USA in March and April 2014 for another 6 week tour. Let us transport you to a world of water, ice, deserts and breathtaking dance. Combining stunning contemporary dance, aerial work, dazzling digital film and a huge curved set Scattered is created by Kevin Finnan MBE (Choreographer for the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Paralympic Games)

Motionhouse have a close relationship with Birmingham Ormiston Academy (BOA) an independent state-funded 14-19 Academy in Birmingham. Talented broadcast students from BOA filmed Broken, Motionhouse's latest production for theatres, filmed and edited the show to accurately summarise the narrative in this trailer.

Motionhouse Youth Director Claire Benson talks about Motionhouse Youth and why youth companies, education workshops and technique classes for young people are so important. Opportunities to get involved in youth dance within Motionhouse include Motionhouse Youth Classes for 11-19 year olds on Tuesdays 4.45-6.15pm as well as performing companies for all age groups: Motionhouse Junior for 8-13 year olds (Thursdays 5.30-6.45pm) Motionhouse Youth (Fridays 7-9pm). All are based at the company's dance studio in Spencer Yard, Leamington Spa. The company also works with young people while on tour around the UK and internationally, exploring contact dance for a wide range of participants as well as the choreography within GCSE and ALevel curriculum shows Perfect and Driven, and the newest theatre touring show Broken. Reach: Behind the scenes.

Join us behind the scenes at the HE services plant in Strood as Research and Development starts on a new addition to the Machine Dance series; Reach. Featuring one digger and two disabled dancers (Welly O'Brien and David Toole) the piece is very much in it's early stages, but we are very excited about where it is headed! The Project is commissioned by the Mayor of London's Liberty Festival with support from Arts Council England.
