Mantle Arts

Mantle Arts is a participatory arts organisation based in north west Leicestershire. They run projects that bring together artists and community groups for creative activity in order to improve lives, enhance deprived areas, and educate and combat isolation, especially those isolated by geography, age, background, race, culture or disability.

The organisation currently has three strands of activity: work with young people; community projects; and arts and health projects. They also provide opportunities for young or emerging artists to gain experience of working with the community. They work with and on behalf of a wide range of partner organisations to achieve these aims.

I Spy

During our 25th Birthday celebrations, video artists Fi Burke and Paul Davies created a spy movie in a day, on the streets of Coalville, Leicestershire, persuading passers by to become cast and crew. This is the outcome.

N. W. Leicestershire Polish/English project

This video is the end product of a project Mantle Arts ran with Polish and English people in North West Leicestershire, focussed on identity, friendships and home. Artist and film maker Alicja Rogalska worked in schools, factories and shops, interviewing people and videoing them. Children's pictures were incorporated into the final video and animated, giving a snapshot of a developing community in a rural area.
