Bow arts aims to contribute to community renewal in east London through arts services. It came into existence in 1995 after moving to its current premises on Bow Road, where it opened artists’ studios, before becoming a registered charity in 1996. Our grant to Bow Arts in 1998 allowed them to co-ordinate their educational programme, which allows artists both to earn money and develop their skills, and contributed towards The Nunnery, a contemporary art gallery at the Bow Road site.
As of 2012, Bow Arts comprises six sites across south and East London. It supports 100 artists through housing scheme for artists contributing to community work and numerous others through its sponsorship of London’s Artist Quarter and the Artist Studio Finder websites.
