A New Direction*

A New Direction is an Arts Council England bridge organisation.

A New Direction works with London's creative and cultural sector, schools and other partners, to generate opportunities for young people to take part in arts and culture and develop their own creativity, ensuring that all young Londoners have full access to all that's available to them.

About bridge organsations

As part of our goal to make sure that every child and young person has the opportunity to experience the richness of the arts and culture, Arts Council England funds a network of 10 bridge organisations as part of the National portfolio. Each of these will use their experience and expertise to connect children and young people, schools and communities with art and culture.

1 Minute Films: Moving Statue

A Film by Ifthekar Ahmed

"A New Direction commissioned us to work with our young filmmakers Constant Pictures to make 1 minute films about seeking out creative opportunities in London.

Inspired by sculptures such as The Thinker and The Angel of the North, Ifthekar uses locations in London to depict himself as a statue in different stages of a creative journey.

The film uses a quote from Diana Ross as it's starting point,
"My travels led me to where I am today. Sometimes these steps have felt painful, difficult, but led me to greater happiness and opportunites""
