About the Annual Survey
Each year National portfolio organisations and Major partner museums in receipt of regular funding from Arts Council England (referred to as ‘Regularly Funded Organisations’ prior to 2012/13) are required to complete an annual survey as a condition of their funding. This survey collects data on organisation profile, staffing, financial statements, numbers of performances, exhibition days, film screenings and educational activities and known and estimated audiences for these activities. It also collects data on touring activities.
From 2008/09, the survey has been conducted online. In prior years the annual survey was completed as an Excel document.
The annual survey is used as a monitoring document, providing evidence of the use of Arts Council England's funding including reporting to Government and other key stakeholders; supporting our monitoring of all National portfolio organisations and Major partner museums - a major strand of our funding - and informing Arts Council policies, aims and ambitions.

2013/14 survey data
We would like to thank all the National portfolio organisations and Major partner museums that responded. Headline data from the 2013/14 survey was published as an official statistic on 9 October 2014. We plan to publish a detailed written report later this year.
