This major conference from Arts Council England, organised by the Centre for Literacy in Primary Education, provides a unique opportunity to raise the profile of the market for culturally diverse children’s books and to explore opportunities for development in this area.
Drawing together people from across the industry, conference delegates will include publishers, writers and illustrators as well as booksellers, librarians and teachers. It will also feature a public showcase event open to local families.
Workshops will focus on:
development of the market
informing and stimulating growth
showcasing good practice
Other Arts Council England initiatives to increase diversity in literature include the deciBel Nibbie (British Book Award) for the Black or Asian writer of the year and the deciBel Penguin short story competition.
