Cinegi Arts&Film was an action research project supported by Arts Council England in partnership with the BFI and delivered by Cinegi. Running from January 2017 to May 2018, the research tested how a digital distribution service could bring filmed arts and cultural content to audiences in venues beyond mainstream cinemas.

The Cinegi Arts&Film Action Research Report, by Nesta and The Audience Agency, summarises the research findings, including whether the project reached audiences who would not otherwise engage with the arts or specialised film, what drove the engagement from audiences, and what were the barriers to the uptake of the Cinegi service. It also offers an analysis of the supply chain for Live-to-Digital work in non-standard cinema venues.

Cinegi Arts&Film, a Case Study: how it worked and what we learned

Alongside the action research report, we have also published a case study reflecting on some of the rich learning and insight derived from the project from the point of view of those responsible for its delivery.
