Artsmark
- Artsmark future
Artsmark is Arts Council England’s flagship schools programme, celebrating commitment and passion for arts education in schools.
Over the last 10 years over 10,000 schools have been a part of the scheme and currently 19.5% of schools in England hold an Artsmark award. To date it has served as an excellent measure of arts provision in and out of curriculum time as well as recognising partnerships with professional artists and organisations. It has also enabled schools to embed arts development as an integral part of their wider improvement, as referenced in the Self Evaluation Form and recognised by Ofsted.
Artsmark has now completed its tenth round and has entered a period of review and evaluation. Arts Council England wants to ensure that the scheme remains fit for purpose and continues to align with education and arts policy. Through discussion with Ofsted, DCMS, DCFS and Local Authorities we have identified that quality outcomes and a simpler online application are important factors to include in the new scheme. Over the coming months we will be testing our thinking with schools, colleges, arts organisations and other educational settings ready to launch the new scheme in September 2011.

Please note:
Round 8 awards (awarded May 2008) will now expire in May 2012 instead of May 2011. This is due to no application round this year.
