Area Councils
We have five Area Councils who use their skills, experience and voices to help shape our work.
Who are they?
Who are they?
Our Area Council members are made up of people from different backgrounds across and beyond the cultural and creative sector. They include artists and creative practitioners, administrators and local authority representatives. They use their perspective, expertise and unique voices to help shape our work.
What they do
What they do
Each Area Council works to make sure the benefits of creative expression and culture are available to people up and down the country. They make sure that we invest public money wisely, and shape how we support artists and cultural organisations.
More specifically, they:
- make decisions on organisations joining our National Portfolio (the group of organisations we fund) and make recommendations to National Council
- help to make our Strategy, Let’s Create, a reality
- keep an eye on Arts Council England’s performance as we work towards our goals.
