The Government plans to support at least 5,000 short-term job opportunities in the arts and cultural sectors for long-term unemployed young people.

While the Future Jobs Fund is still in development, the Arts Council has agreed to work with the DCMS and the Department for Work and Pensions to explore how arts organisations can access it, and to ensure that the scheme is the best it can be for the arts. You can download a briefing note about the work here. This briefing sets out the high-level information about the initiative that we have so far. As work develops and detail is confirmed we will update this and continue to share it with you.

At this stage of the scheme’s development we would like to explore the scale of interest. If you are interested in employing an unemployed young person in the next 18 months please complete the 'Expressions of interest in the Future Jobs Fund' below and return it to us by 13 July 2009.

Completing the form will just register an expression of interest and does not commit you.

Our conversations with arts organisations have shown a very positive response to this opportunity. There is a real desire to create a positive working experience for a significant number of young people as they start their careers during a recession. The timelines involved in taking this scheme forward have been tight and we appreciate your enthusiasm and support in this.
