Our research helps us to understand how creativity and culture impacts people’s lives. we use it to support organisations who want to improve their practice and to demonstrate their impact. It also helps to inform art and culture policy, and our investment.

The Active Lives Survey explores participation in leisure and recreational activities, including sport, physical activity and culture. The survey is led by Sport England in partnership with the Arts Council, Public Health England and Department for Transport.

Community and place
We have dedicated funding of over £116 million to place-based programmes that recognise arts and culture as a key component in developing places and engaging communities.
Disabled people are under-represented within the arts and cultural sector workforce in all role types and levels of seniority.
